Romantic Proposal Spots in Miami
Miami was made for proposals: sunshine, palm trees, water everywhere and a skyline that glows at night. As a family jeweler in Downtown Miami, we love hearing "how I asked" stories. Here are some of our favorite kinds of spots around town, plus a few tips to help the moment go smoothly.
Before you go, always check each location's current hours, entry fees and photography rules, since they can change. Some places require a permit for professional photographers.
On the beach at sunrise
Miami Beach and its quieter stretches up and down the coast are beautiful early in the morning, before the crowds arrive. The light is soft, the water is calm and you'll often have the sand almost to yourselves. Sunrise is also cooler than a midday Miami afternoon, which your nerves will appreciate.
Waterfront parks downtown
Bayfront Park and the walkways along Biscayne Bay put you right on the water with the downtown skyline behind you, just a short walk from our store at 100 NE 1st St. Golden hour, just before sunset, is especially pretty.
Historic gardens and estates
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Coconut Grove is famous for its Italian Renaissance-style gardens and bayfront views. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables is lush and peaceful. Both are ticketed attractions with their own policies, so plan ahead and check their websites.
Key Biscayne and the lighthouse
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne has beaches, sea breezes and a historic lighthouse. It feels like a getaway without leaving town.
A skyline view at night
A rooftop restaurant or lounge with city lights can be wonderfully glamorous. Call ahead and tell them you're proposing. Many places are happy to help with a quiet table or a special dessert.
On the water
A private boat or sunset cruise on Biscayne Bay gives you privacy and a view. Just keep the ring box secure: we've all heard the "dropped it overboard" nightmare!
Somewhere that's just yours
Sometimes the best spot isn't famous at all. The place you had your first date, the café where you get coffee every Sunday, or your own living room with a few candles can mean the most.
Planning tips
- Check the weather. Miami afternoons can bring sudden summer showers, so have a backup plan.
- Mind the heat. Choose early morning or evening, and bring water.
- Hire a photographer or ask a friend to hide nearby. Confirm any location photo rules first.
- Know her ring size. Our guide on how to find her ring size can help.
- Insure the ring before the big day.

A few more ideas
- A picnic under the palms at a local park, with your favorite snacks.
- An art walk through a neighborhood gallery or mural district, ending with the big question.
- A family moment: some couples love proposing with parents or friends close by, ready to celebrate right after.
Whatever you choose, think about what your partner would love most: a big, public moment or something quiet and private. That one question will point you to the perfect spot.
